Processing pipeline
- OpenSelect a local document and the operation.
- ProcessRender, edit or recognize text in a child process.
- ValidateCheck the returned status, format and output limits.
- SaveChoose a destination and inspect the exported result.
When a PDF viewer is not enough
Microsoft Edge can read, print, annotate and fill basic PDF forms. KK-PDF Pro handles the next step: merge, split or reorder pages, or make scanned documents searchable.
Tesseract and the bundled language data run locally. For documents that must stay on your machine, this avoids uploading them to an online conversion service.
Document core and process separation
The interface submits jobs to a supervised worker. PDFium handles page rendering, and separate modules handle document operations, forms and output. Time limits vary by operation. The process boundary helps contain application faults; the worker still runs under the user's Windows privileges and is not an operating system sandbox.
Regression samples should cover forms, annotations, links, embedded fonts and encrypted PDFs. An edit can affect an existing digital signature. Validate signatures against the applicable trust chain, timestamp and policy; a signature image is only a visual representation.
Offline OCR and resource limits
The app bundles Tesseract and language data and checks the OCR manifest and file hashes before use. It renders each selected page to an image, validates the recognized output and combines the results. The source limits the number of OCR pages per job and sets operation deadlines.
Document processing and OCR do not require uploading the PDF. Licensing and updates use separate HTTPS connections. OCR quality depends on resolution, layout and language; retain the original and review important fields.
Editions
| Edition | Current installer | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Annual 5.3.1 | Windows x64; Annual update channel. | PDF viewing, editing and OCR; separate 30-day trial code. |
| Lifetime 5.3.0 | Windows x64; Lifetime licensing channel. | The trial still expires after 30 days. Lifetime is a separate license term. |
Verification protocol
- Document fidelity
Compare page count, dimensions, forms, links and rendered output on a fixed corpus before and after each operation.
- OCR quality
Use Vietnamese and English ground truth. Record character error rate, time per page and the test configuration.
- Faults and cancellation
Include malformed PDFs, large jobs and canceled operations. Confirm the interface stays responsive and original files are preserved.
Evidence and limits
This describes the processing path observed in the 5.3.0 and 5.3.1 source. The trial installer payloads and edition startup checks were verified. The OCR and compatibility measurements above are a proposed protocol, with no independent benchmark or ISO certification claimed.
